What do we do with our furniture when we refinish our hardwood floors?

Before we begin restoring your wood floors, we ask that all furniture must be completely removed from the areas being refinished. While this can be a bit inconvenient, it is unfortunately required to ensure the best possible results.

We’ve worked with a few moving companies for over a decade and feel confident recommending them to help with furniture removal and replacement. That being said, it could never hurt to ask for the most senior members to help with your move:

  • Two Men and a Truck (Wickliffe) – 216-245-9398

  • College Hunks – 440.390.4308

They can move furniture within your home (garage, basement, porch, etc.), place items into a PODS® or similar storage container (PODS: 877-770-7637), or haul everything offsite and return it once the project is complete (this option is typically the most expensive).

A common request is to move furniture from room to room as we sand. Unfortunately, this is not an option during a refinishing project. (This may only be possible when installing pre-finished wood floors.)

You may move furniture back into the space 24 hours after the final coat of finish is applied. After an additional 48 hours, the floors are fully cured, and area rugs can be safely replaced.
