🏡 Preparing Your Home for Hardwood Floor Refinishing

To make your project as smooth and stress-free as possible, here are a few things we’ll need before we get started:

🛋️ Furniture Removal

We kindly ask that all furniture is removed prior to our arrival.

  • Small items (side tables, coffee tables, rugs, etc.) — no problem

  • Larger items — we are not equipped to move or store furniture

If you need help, we’re happy to recommend trusted companies we’ve worked with for over 15 years:

  • College H.U.N.K.S. Hauling Junk & Moving — 216-278-0082

  • Two Men and a Truck — 216-245-9398

  • Some clients also choose to store their furniture using large containers that sit outside the home: PODS — 855-706-4758

→ Great option for temporary on-site storage

🖼️ Wall Hangings & Breakables

Please remove or secure:

  • Pictures

  • Artwork

  • Fragile items

Our equipment can cause slight vibrations, which may shift items on walls or shelves.

🚻 Bathroom Access

We’ll need access to one bathroom during the project.

🐶 Pets & Occupancy

  • You and your pets can typically remain in the home during most of the process

  • During the final sanding, staining, and finishing, we’ll need:

    • Floors clear 3–4 times over the final 2–3 days

    • Each time frame is typically 3–4 hours

👉 We’ll coordinate with you to make this as easy and stress-free as possible.

🔌 Power Requirements

To operate our equipment efficiently, we’ll need:

Standard Power

  • At least 2 outlets per room

  • Ideally on separate circuits

⚡ 220V Power (Important)

We will also need access to a 220V outlet for our commercial equipment.

This is typically:

  • Electric stove outlet

  • Electric dryer outlet

  • Electirc car outlest will NOT work unfortunately

  • Workshop outlet (table saw, planer, etc.)

If none of these are available, we can:

  • Safely connect to your electrical panel

  • (As long as you have breakers—not fuses)

🔑 Home Access

We’ll need a reliable way to access the home.

Options include:

  • Providing a key (we can install a secure lockbox)

  • Temporary garage or door code

We’ll work with whatever is most comfortable for you.

📱 Communication

We’ll make sure we have:

  • Your best daytime contact info

  • You’ll have direct contact with our team

We want you to feel informed and confident every step of the way.

🔥 Final Thought

That’s it!

With just a little preparation, we can focus on what we do best—transforming your floors into something you’re truly proud of.
